Position Function:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Individual must have a strong work ethic and good eye for detail.2. Proficient operation of edger, blower, trimmer, mower, and other equipment.3. Knowledgeable in the process of installing shrubs, trees and annual plant material within the landscape.4. Mow grass, mulch leaves, clean-up grounds and grounds maintenance practices designated areas of campus.5. Assists with appropriate weed/pest control (both manually and chemically) for beds, lawn and landscape areas.6. Ability to provide proper maintenance and being comfortable using multiple pieces of power equipment and machinery such as: chain saws, edger, weed eaters, push and/or riding mowers, backhoes, tractor etc. May procure supplies, parts, and tools as needed.7. Operate and make minor adjustments to mowers or equipment to ensure proper operation and results.8. May perform special projects related to various aspects of Facilities Management as assigned by supervisor.9. Must be flexible and able to perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read and write.One year of experience in Horticulture, Landscape operations or related field.Valid Driver's License required.Ability to obtain chemical applicator certification within one year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to read and understand pesticide labels.• Ability to operate farm equipment and landscape machinery.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Position Function:
This position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all Mississippi State University athletic fields and grounds areas.

1. Performs all aspects of the establishment, maintenance, and repair of standard and specialized turf areas, which may includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution.2. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of all fields for practices, events, and games. Includes prep dirt work, lines, turf management, watering, chemical application, fertilizer application, etc.3. Responsible for assisting in scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work in support of the University’s outdoor athletic facilities and fields. 4. Responsible for inspecting and testing the fields and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to make changes in management programs to ensure quality athletic fields for practice and competition.5. Responsible for assisting in planning project work for athletic fields and common areas by applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the maintenance standards and long-range goals.6. Performs related duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibility:May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to student workers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Turf Grass Management, Agronomy, Golf and Sports Management or related discipline.Experience: 2 years Sports Turf and Grounds experienceSubstitutions:An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Restricted Pesticide Certification.2. Previous experience in an internship directly related to the duties listed above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of Toro Monitor II hydraulic irrigation systems2. Knowledge of turf grasses related to the area.3. Working knowledge of restricted use chemical application.4. Knowledge of standards for intercollegiate athletic fields (Division 1-A quality).5. Ability to exercise tact and discretion with coaches and the public, including reasonablestandards of appearance.

The Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications is responsible for facilitating and managing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies for the Division of Student Affairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute social media strategy for the Division’s social media channels while providing consultation and support to departmental staff regarding content planning, audience engagement, accessibility considerations, platform best practices, and emerging trends to ensure alignment with divisional and university standards.2. Write and produce clear, compelling communications and stories for publication on the departments’ websites, email campaigns, newsletters, publications and social media outlets to engage various audiences. 3. Oversee the visual design and creative execution of Division publications, including photography selection, layout development, and graphic presentation.4. Manage content on the Divisional website and assist departments with website content strategy, redesign initiatives, accessibility considerations, and ongoing content updates. 5. Coordinate Division photography and videography efforts, including production planning, assignment of projects, scheduling coverage of major events, management of digital assets, and implementation of multimedia storytelling initiatives that support divisional priorities.6. Work with departments across the Division to develop communication plans and marketing strategies for program offerings that align with divisional priorities, institutional goals, and university branding standards. 7. Provide training, as needed, to departmental staff on best practices for creating, managing, monitoring, and developing content. 8. Coordinate the execution of Divisional marketing projects received through the marketing request process by establishing production timelines, monitoring project progress, communicating with stakeholders, coordinating with student staff, and ensuring deliverables are completed in accordance with established priorities and quality standards. 9. Establish and monitor benchmarks to assess the effectiveness of social media and digital communication efforts, report analytics, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. 10. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and mentor graduate assistants and student employees while providing experiential learning, portfolio development, and career readiness opportunities.11. Works closely with the Office of Public Affairs on initiatives which include but not limited to, social media coordination and content creation. 12. Ensures the Division of Student Affairs’ mission, vision and values are properly branded.13. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, or Journalism and three years experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English or Journalism.2. Five years work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferably in an institution of higher learning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Proven knowledge and experience using appropriate technologies. Advanced computer skills and technical ability are required.2. Excellent and engaging written and verbal communication skills that aid in finding original content as well as the ability to be innovative in producing and packaging content, including writing creatively.3.
