    Job Description:

    The Human Resources Generalist III serves as the primary human resources leader for the Department of Psychiatry, overseeing the full scope of HR operations and strategic workforce support for approximately 270 employees across multiple employment categories. This position provides comprehensive HR guidance and services, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, workforce planning, compliance, and leave administration. The HR Generalist III manages a team of three HR staff members and is responsible for faculty and staff recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.

    About This Role:

    Recruitment, Talent Acquisition, and Credentialing

    Provides strategic leadership for all departmental recruitment, hiring, and credentialing activities across multiple employee classifications, including Faculty, TEAMS, OPS, Adjuncts, Courtesy Faculty, Postdoctoral Associates, Graduate Assistants, Residents, and Clinical Fellows. This role ensures the department maintains a compliant, timely, and competitive talent acquisition process that supports the department’s workforce needs and aligns with the College of Medicine’s strategic objectives.

    Faculty and Workforce Administration

    Provides strategic oversight of workforce administration functions, with a primary focus on faculty while also ensuring compliance and consistency across all employment classifications through direct supervision of the HR team. This includes leave administration, offboarding, benefits, compliance training, and administrative supplements. The role serves as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership on workforce policies, ensuring adherence to University, College of Medicine, and regulatory requirements.

    Personnel and Payroll Operations Leadership

    Provides strategic oversight of all personnel and payroll operations within the Department of Psychiatry, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across multiple employee classifications. Serving as a key advisor to departmental leadership, this role interprets, implements, and communicates evolving payroll and personnel policies from the State Legislature, Board of Trustees, University of Florida, and the College of Medicine.

    Trainee Workforce Administration (Graduate Assistants and Housestaff)

    Provides oversight and leadership for the administration of all trainee workforce programs within the Department of Psychiatry, including Graduate Assistants, Residents, and Clinical Fellows. This role ensures that all appointments, reappointments, payroll actions, and compliance requirements are accurately and efficiently managed in accordance with College of Medicine and University policies.

    Policy Development and Process Improvement

    Leads the design, development, and implementation of departmental human resources policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role identifies opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with University, College of Medicine, and departmental requirements. Collaborates with leadership and HR staff to create policies that standardize operations, enhance service delivery, and support strategic workforce objectives.

    Expected Salary:

    $74,000 - $80,000; commensurate with education and experience.

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred:
    • Knowledge of HR processes and procedures.
    • Good organizational skills, strong communication skills.
    • Ability to type accurately, to work under pressure to meet deadlines, to communicate accurately and effectively with internal and external sources.
    • Experience with employee self-service and manager self-service systems.
    • Recruiting and payroll software.
