| Job Description: |
Develop and improve methods to study biological processes related to food microbiology and safety. The incumbent will write research proposals, establish experimental design, and implement project protocol. Design experiments for analysis and standardization of food microbiology and safety protocols. Lead collection and analysis of data and interpret results to inform research questions and objectives. Collaborate with other researchers to create and evaluate new methods and technologies for detecting and controlling foodborne pathogens. Manage laboratory activities and direct the work of other scientists, including graduate students, interns, and visiting scientists. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records and material data sheets. Oversee purchase orders for supplies and equipment. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations. Evaluating new lab technologies and collaborating with vendors to ensure the laboratory has the necessary equipment and resources to conduct research. Disseminating research results through reports, papers, and presentations. Manage cultivation and studying of live specimens, including pathogenic microorganisms. Interpret data to inform research conclusions and recommendations. Creating computational approaches for research needs, including data analysis and modeling. Collaborating with other researchers to prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Administering biological research following specified protocols, including ensuring the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and materials. Train team members and students about research methods and techniques related to food microbiology and safety. Writing grants and participating in fundraising for research projects.

$61,000 - $65,000; commensurate education and experience |
