Division of General Internal Medicine The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Florida is committed to delivering the highest quality primary and consultative care to a diverse patient population while advancing the field through scholarship, innovation, and education. The Division serves as a cornerstone of the Department of Medicine, providing comprehensive ambulatory care, supporting a broad range of trainees, and advancing research in health services, population health, quality improvement, and chronic disease management. GIM supports a robust training environment, including residency education in internal medicine, clerkship education for medical students, and opportunities for faculty to develop clinical, educational, and research careers in an academically rigorous setting. Institutional Environment The University of Florida is a Top 10 public research university with six health colleges, nine centers and institutes, and an integrated academic health center that supports collaborative care and discovery across the continuum of medicine. UF Health Shands Hospital is a large quaternary referral hospital with multiple nationally ranked specialties, and the Division also maintains a presence at the Malcom Randall Veterans Administration Medical Center, one of the largest regional VA health care facilities in the country. The Division of General Internal Medicine is a large and growing academic division with a broad outpatient clinical presence, including 33 faculty members across 3 outpatient practice sites serving a diverse patient population throughout the region. The Division is recognized for excellence in comprehensive primary care, ambulatory education, population health initiatives, and innovative models of care delivery. The Chief will oversee divisional clinical, educational, research, and administrative programs while leading continued growth and innovation across the Division's missions and advancing excellence in patient care, scholarship, and faculty development.
