    Job Description:

    The AAHA accredited University of Florida Small Animal Hospital is recruiting for a Hospital Veterinary Assistant. The veterinary assistant works with veterinarians and technicians to provide support for patient care and administrative duties in the Small Animal Hospital. This position works under immediate supervision from a manager as well as supportive oversight from veterinarians and technicians. Provides basic patient care and administrative support as directed.
    This individual will work one-on-one with clients, patients, and hospital staff and must be able to develop friendly, professional relationships and maintain a positive attitude through all interactions. This position is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the hospital, providing support to client service representatives in both cleaning needs as well as retrieving food orders; stocking supplies and food; and maintaining laundry services throughout the Small Animal Hospital. Individuals should genuinely care about people and animals, possess excellent communication skills, strong public relations skills, initiative to problem solve, utilize active listening skills and confidence in handling customer interactions, project a professional image, and good interpersonal skills. Must be outgoing, full of enthusiasm, and a team player. The position requires working at least one weekend day and may require holidays to be worked as well.

    Expected Salary:

    $15.00/hr

    Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.

    This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available. This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.
