Sponsored by Florida Sea Grant, this part-time, temporary position runs from August to September 2026. It is intended to assist the UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant Agent in Gulf County with the distribution of Scallop Sorter devices during Gulf's Scalloping Season. This individual will be expected to work outdoors, weekend mornings between work dates (see exact dates below), for 6 hours per day during the Gulf Scallop Season, totaling 24 hours of work. The position requires a reliable mode of transportation and a willingness to drive to work location. Work location will include (but are not limited to) the White City Bridge Boat Ramp and Frank Pate Park Boat Ramp in Port St. Joe. Duties will include talking with boaters, asking survey questions, distributing scallop sorters, and recording information. This is a fully in-person position. Work dates are subject to change with weather and regulatory impacts to the scallop season. The position requires long hours outdoors in the Florida sun, standing near boat ramps, and engaging with the public. |
