    Classification Minimum Requirements:

    Associate’s degree in an appropriate area;or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

    Job Description:

    -Assists with the maintenance and use of recirculating aquaculture systems, laboratory equipment, and associated components to ensure proper functionality and efficient operation.

    -Assists with feeding, broodstock maintenance, egg collection, and egg quantification in support of aquaculture research activities.-Monitors and maintains the health and welfare of aquatic organisms, including oversight of water quality parameters and system conditions. Provides recommendations to improve maintenance and spawning of aquatic organisms.

    -Participates in research activities and project objectives as assigned by the supervisor, collaborates effectively with faculty, staff, students, and laboratory personnel. Operates and drives state/UF vehicles as needed in support of research, maintenance, and operational activities.

    -Other duties as assigned

    Expected Salary:

    $20.92 per hour

    Required Qualifications:

    Associate’s degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

    Preferred:

    The incumbent in this position should possess education and/or experience in aquaculture or a closely related field. The successful candidate should be able to effectively communicate research data and results through both oral presentations and written reports. Fluency in both written and spoken English is encouraged. Proficiency with computer hardware and software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management, is also required.
