    OPS Healthcare Scribe

    Job Description:

    The UF Health is seeking individuals interested in being employed as scribes in the Department of Psychiatry.

    Responsibilities of the scribe include:

    • Entering patient rooms with the physician/clinician during patient visits to capture and transcribe medical record documentation in real time using electronic medical record applications.
    • Using appropriate medical terminology and phrasing to document the physician/clinician’s communication with the patient and details of the visit in the electronic medical record.
    • Updating patient history and other pertinent health information in the patient record and documenting follow-up instructions under the direction of the physician/clinician.
    • Perform other related clerical duties to support the physician/clinician, creating a positive patient experience.
    • Must always interact sensitively and professionally with both internal physicians, mid-level providers and other staff) and external (patients) parties.
    • Must always maintain strict confidentiality and follow all University of Florida and Group Practice HIPAA and confidentiality policies.

    The successful candidate must be punctual and maintain an excellent attendance record, must be well-organized, demonstrate personal initiative, and display interest in the overall well-being of the department and the greater health system.

    Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours weekly between the following dates/times: Monday through Sunday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

    Advertised Salary:

    $15.00/hr.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High School diploma or GED
    • Completion of a college-level medical terminology course

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Completion of a computer skills training class
    • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
    • An understanding of patient confidentiality/HIPAA, adhering to all ethical and legal requirements.
    • Experience in medical assistance and medical transcription. emergency medical services or as a healthcare professional
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to travel to various locations.
