    Job Description:

    Laboratory Operations and Resource Management

    • Manage day-to-day research laboratory operations in collaboration with the Research and Development Manager and Principal Investigators.
    • Lead the development and implementation of new laboratory protocols, in collaboration with the
    • Research and Development Manager and principal Investigators. This includes identifying required biological materials and reagents; defining safety precautions and storage/handling requirements; and drafting and maintaining laboratory SOPs and related technical documentation.
    • Manage laboratory equipment and supplies, including purchase, installation, calibration, maintenance, and lifecycle replacement.
    • Ensure equipment specifications meet safety and operational requirements and update related procedures/SOPs as needed.
    • Partner with research teams to transition new experimental protocols into routine laboratory use, including documenting and issuing standard protocols and related materials.
    • Store and track sensitive scientific materials and instruments in accordance with safety regulations and institutional policies.
    • Ensure all equipment meets operational and safety specifications and coordinate work orders for specialized or modified
    • Equipment and update related procedures/SOPs as needed.
    • Manage reagents, consumables, and raw materials for research activities, including vendor selection, purchasing, and inventory control.
    • Maintain material specifications and safety documentation per current SOPs.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive, locatable inventory system for freezers and refrigerators, ensuring material specifications and safety documentation are current.
    • Partner with research teams to transition new experimental protocols into routine laboratory use, including documenting and issuing standard protocols and related materials.
    • Store and track sensitive scientific materials and instruments in accordance with institutional and regulatory policies.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations related to hazardous waste disposal and the handling of biological and chemical materials.
    • Evaluate new laboratory products and technologies, compare vendors, and collaborate with the Research and Development Manager to negotiate pricing and optimize resource utilization.
    • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures that standardize operations and support reproducibility and safety.
    • Prepare and manage budgets for laboratory supplies, equipment, and services, ensuring efficient and compliant use of resources.
    • Set up a SORTLY consumable and reagent inventory system and coordinate this with the Lab Administrator.
    • Coordinate machine shop work orders for special or modified equipment needs, ensuring specifications meet research requirements.

    Staff Supervision and Coordination of Laboratory Activities

    • Train, help supervise new undergraduate volunteers, and graduate students with the Research and
      Development Manager.
    • Supervise and train undergraduate Volunteers in pipetting, cell culture techniques, and use the biosafety cabinet appropriately. Usage and overall lab general assays, (making solutions, PH, nanosight QC, QA standards, and all training on common use equipment: plate readers, PCR machines, Tissue digestors, microscopes, cell counters, and other lab equipment as needed.
    • Evaluate research laboratory personnel in accordance with applicable SOPs and quality control/quality assurance QC/QA) standards for LPA and ttRNA production for preclinical work in a research setting.
    • Develop and implement monthly and annual laboratory operations schedules in coordination with the Research and Development Manager and Principal Investigators.
    • Implement and maintain a comprehensive laboratory safety program covering all laboratory spaces, specialized equipment, and hazardous material storage areas.
    • Monitor quality control systems and performance metrics to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Train staff on quality control and analytical procedures to support reliable research outcomes.
    • Stay current with best practices by reviewing relevant studies, technological advancements, and regulatory standards and trends.

    Expected Salary:

    $81,000 - $85,000

    Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Preferred: EDUCATION & TRAINING
    - Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field
    EXPERIENCE
    - 3+ years of related experience in a laboratory setting
    KNOWLEDGE
    - Working understanding of Gene and Cell Therapy concepts
    -Experience with clean room work and experience with mammalian cell culture and virology
    SKILLS
    - Detail-oriented
    - Strong organizational skills
    PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
    - Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
