    Asset Specialist I-Federal Work Study Student

    Classification Minimum Requirements:

    Have an approved Federal Work Study Permit for 2026. The person must be physically able to lift/move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Job Description:

    The UF Surplus Inbound and Outbound areas of the warehouse are responsible for the appropriate disposition and sustainability of all electronic property and furniture that is surveyed out as surplus by all UF departments. UF Surplus fulfills UF's sustainability commitment by reducing both UF's technology waste and furniture items by reusing within UF, reselling to the public or donating to the community, and recycling items that are no longer viable. The FWS student performs the following:

    • Lobby Area: Assists customers with auction sales and departmental transfers. Will locate the customers’ auction or transfer items within the 3 warehouses and move them to the dock. Answer phone calls and assist customers with questions.
    • Online Auction Sales: Place surplus property on internet auctions by photographing items, generating detailed descriptions of items, and listing items for sale on auction sites.
    • Data Management: Update and input status of surplus property data into Asset Management database pertaining to surplus property to accurately maintain the property records including photos, locations and descriptions of items.
    • Sorting and Recycling: Separate items and sort through boxes that come into UF Surplus to place items in proper locations. Items not sustainable will be palletized and sent to the E-Waste Recycler.
    • Individuals must be dependable and take ownership of job.

    Work on campus at the UF Surplus warehouse located one block from Lake Alice. Campus bus service is available to this location.

    Expected Salary:

    $15/hour
