    Working/Functional Title

    Law Enforcement Analyst Assistant

    Position Summary

    The Department of Psychiatry seeks a Threat Assessment & Public Safety Assistant to support the Law Enforcement Liaison and Prevent 2 Protect (P2P) Hub in coordinating statewide collaboration with law enforcement, schools, and community partners. This position provides criminal justice knowledge and support to the P2P multidisciplinary team serving at-risk youth across five regions in Michigan.

    The position works closely with law enforcement agencies, School Resource Officers (SROs), Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) teams, and juvenile justice professionals to support information gathering, relay and report generation, resource exploration, and community collaborations. The role also includes participation in daily multidisciplinary team meetings, provision of training, and support for program reporting and stakeholder engagement.

    Regular statewide travel is required.


    Key Responsibilities

    Threat Assessment & Public Safety

    • Provide information and generate reports on behavioral threat assessment, security planning, and criminogenic risk factors
    • Support P2P multidisciplinary team on all safety, legal, and law enforcement-related considerations

    Collaboration & Coordination

    • Coordinate with law enforcement, SROs, probation officers, and BTAM teams
    • Facilitate communication across agencies to support P2P Hub and regional Intensive Support Teams
    • Assist in P2P Hub team in identifying and securing appropriate threat assessment intervention resources for Michigan Communities
    • Participate in team meetings to support regional teams in case review and planning

    Support for Leadership & Regional Teams

    • Provide input on criminogenic factors or cases involving safety and law enforcement involvement
    • Assist in resolving barriers to service implementation

    Training & Community Engagement

    • Assist team in providing training and consultation to schools, law enforcement, and community stakeholders
    • Create and support the team in the development of training materials and program resources
    • Facilitate meetings with regional partners and BTAM teams

    Data Collection, Verification & Reporting

    • Collect, track, and maintain program data related to participant outcomes, services, and interventions
    • Verify accuracy and completeness of data across regional teams and partner agencies
    • Assist in developing and maintaining data tracking systems and documentation processes
    • Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for program improvement
    • Prepare data summaries, dashboards, and reports for internal teams and external stakeholders
    • Present data findings in a clear and actionable format to support decision-making and program evaluation

    Program Support & Reporting

    • Assist in preparation of reports and presentations for stakeholders and program sponsors
    • Support program evaluation and data collection activities
    • Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal requirements

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Support development and coordination of training programs and materials
    • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations

    Please note that this is an off-date position funded through September 30, 2027; continuation contingent upon funding and performance.

    Minimum Requirements

    Knowedge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical school or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in maintaining account ledgers, departmental operations, employment, or in performing tasks related to the area of employment; experience in word processing, editing and composing correspondence, and maintaining spreadsheets and/or databases; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field, with demonstrated experience working with children and adolescents
    • Experience in the collection of information and the verification, analysis, and presentation of data/information in a clear and meaningful way
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and enhance strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams
    • Experience coordinating projects and managing multiple priorities
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail
    • Knowledge of behavioral threat assessment, juvenile justice systems, and public safety practices
    • Ability to collect, verify, analyze, and present data in a clear and meaningful way
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including consultation and training
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners
    • Experience coordinating projects and managing multiple priorities
    • Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and program documentation
    • Knowledge of compliance requirements and regulatory standards
