Position Function:

Mississippi State University's School of Nursing invites applications for a tenure-track nurse faculty position in a competency-based, accelerated, masters' entry program of nursing. Faculty hired will be expected to work synergistically with other MSU faculty, community leaders, and clinical constituents to implement innovative graduate nursing education pathways to strengthen a practice-ready nursing workforce. The primary responsibility will be scholarship of teaching.

Salary Grade: UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Department Profile:

The MSU-Meridian accelerated Master of Science in Nursing program offers a pathway into practice as a Registered Nurse for those with a previous degree in a non-nursing field.
We leverage the skills, knowledge, and life experiences that each student brings as a scaffold for nursing practice. We strive to create a community where every student belongs, questions are welcome, and learning is active. Students complete 58-semester credit hours of coursework over 12-months. Upon program completion, graduates are eligible for the NCLEX-RN examination and licensure as a Registered Nurse. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to:
Participate in competency-based curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation to prepare practice-ready registered nurses as the master's level.
Demonstrate respect, integrity, and hard work in all relationships and interactions.
Serve as role model and academic advisor to students while fostering belonging.
Embrace nursing science and ongoing professional development.
Prioritize collaborations with other faculty, communities, clinical systems, and policy makers.
Exhibit competence and leadership within defined areas of nursing practice.
Disseminate nursing scholarship to benefit the profession and the public.
Actively engage in university, professional, and community activities.
Assume administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in nursing (or related field) with formal education in teaching/learning principles for adults are required. Highly qualified faculty candidates will have a record of impactful teaching, scholarship, and practice. Exceptional candidates with doctoral degrees in nursing in progress may be considered.

Level of appointment is contingent upon education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will hold a PhD and current certification as an advanced practice registered nurse with academic preparation and clinical experience in a variety of nursing settings. Individuals will have a history of leadership and commitment to diversity of thought. Experience with accelerated models of nursing education is ideal. Candidates with significant contributions to caring for rural populations are desired.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Work includes classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction.

Exposure to physical risk and physical effort as expected in a clinical setting.
