Job Description:

Position Function:

The Department of Teacher Education and Leadership is advertising for a position to establish and maintain a social media strategy for the department. Produce content (including stories, photography, graphics and videos) for all platforms with an emphasis on social media. Optimize day-to-day social media. To help with increasing the visibility of the education programs and help support the enrollment numbers of elementary education, special education, secondary education, educational leadership and our online programs by assisting each program with recruitment, retention, advising, and orientation events including Academic Insight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop a recruiting plan for the Teacher Education and Leadership.
2. Work with department head and faculty to coordinate recruitment events for the department and participate in recruiting events (travel).
3. Coordinate and facilitate orientation events for the Teacher Education and Leadership.
4. Develop and/or maintain databases for potential students, suspended students, and graduates.
5. Serves as primary contact person for all social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)
6. Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media strategy to expand our reach, support, the MSU brand, and facilitate helpful interactions with the Teacher Education and Leadership to promote an efficient enrollment process.
7. Teacher Education and Leadership ‘s presence in social media networking sites and work with the website development team to ensure social media tools are kept up to date.
8. Coordinates with compliance to make sure all University regulations are being adhered to.
9. Provide training as needed to departmental staff on best practices for creating, managing, monitoring, and developing content social media channels.
10. Assist in integrating social media into overall marketing initiatives for the department.
11. Work closely with the department head and faculty to gather and create branded content ensuring consistency across multiple marketing channels and to maintain content calendars for all departmental communication efforts.
12. Increase social media visibility for Teacher Education and Leadership.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Education:
Minimum – Bachelor’s degree
Focus – Communication or Marketing
- Education or related Field
Experience:
2 Years
No substitution allowed

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with online monitoring, implementing, managing the web presence, social media presence, and training skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of University regulations
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and training skills.
3. Knowledge of web and social media best practices and principle for both print and web projects.
4. Strong technical background with advanced computer skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
6. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
7. Understanding of programs of study offered in Teacher Education and Leadership
8. Experience working with students and faculty
9. Experience recruiting; Banner experience; Database experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements.
2. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
3. Frequent - Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; irregular hours may be anticipated; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position.
4. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands
5. Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 10 pounds
6. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically
7. Hearing requirements: Heavy telephone contact requires ability to hear and respond to telephone conversations
