Job Description:

Direct and manage inventory of high-profile College events and visits

  • Direct and coordinate all high-profile college events that further strategic priorities, build brand, and boost national reputation; make decisions on best use of space and allocation of campus resources to ensure successful events and maximize campus resources.
  • In conjunction with advancement team, messaging/outreach team, and other college units, design and direct signature and high-profile events to maximize impact and propel marketing/branding strategy.
  • Organize and execute new student orientation, commencement, annual academic conferences and events, Admitted Student Days, AI/Tech Taskforce, and annual recently tenured faculty workshop event, among others.
  • Manage budget for all major event budgets and determine best allocation of resources, including identifying fundraising and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Ensure that high-profile and signature events engage with and meet needs of multiple constituents and stakeholders, including alumni engagement, fundraising, stewardship, and new student and faculty recruitment.
  • Coordinate with Assistant Dean for Messaging and Outreach to develop communications strategies that leverage each campus event to enhance the college’s national profile and strengthen the college’s connections with key stakeholders and audiences (including prospective students, alumni, university leaders, etc.).
  • Communicate with and host high-profile visitors and major stakeholders and coordinate with campus teams to ensure successful travel logistics.
  • Serve on College’s senior leadership team and coordinate with other area leaders and lead major campus projects at the direction of the Dean and Senior Associate Dean for External Affairs.

Manage and oversee events and facilities teams and major construction projects

  • Manage and supervise existing three-person events and facilities team, including innovating and improving events and facilities-use processes.
  • Develop and design a campus events triaging system to ensure that events receive appropriate attention and resource allocation depending on stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful scheduling of campus events and efficient use of campus and personnel resources to appropriately staff and execute all campus events.
  • Coordinate with Student Life team to ensure sufficient support for all student organization related events and develop policies in coordination with Student Life team to ensure student event success while maintaining student organization autonomy.
  • Coordinate with University and external construction management firms to oversee and plan major construction projects to improve Campus experience and use for all stakeholders while directing and allocating appropriate budget resources.

Expected Salary:

135,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate years of experience; or bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • 7+ years’ experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, and/or events in a university setting.
  • 4+ years’ experience leading a high performing team, including prior management of events and/or facilities teams and working with a leadership team. Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining a high caliber staff, building a team, and creatively organizing and managing them to maximize the support of external constituencies.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic priorities for major college unit and working with key executive leaders to pursue strategic goals.
  • A strong understanding of budgeting practices, financial accountability, and the ability to manage resources with prudence and efficiency.
  • Business acumen and the ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
  • An appreciation for and support of diversity in the workplace in all its forms; proven success working with stakeholders; excellent strategic planning and project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required.
  • The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.*
