Job Description:

Position Function:

The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for preparing and analyzing samples. This position will manage operational functions of the Institute of Imaging and Analytical Technologies.

Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.

Salary Grade: 14

Department Profile:

The Institute for Imaging & Analytical Technologies (I2AT) is a university-level research institute that houses a suite of major instrumentation in support of research in life and materials sciences. I2AT is open to faculty, staff, and students, as well as off-campus investigators. These state-of-the-art resources facilitate research, spawn competitive funding, enhance high-quality undergraduate and graduate education, and promote economic development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform laboratory procedures including sample preparation and analysis in a timely manner in compliance with standard operating procedures.
2. Operate imaging and analytical equipment and ensure proper calibration and routine
maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures.
3. Manage lab supplies and reagents, including monitoring inventory levels and expiration dates.
4. Handle sample receipt and ensure timely analysis.
5. Assist with preparing and updating standard operating procedures.
6. Reconcile lab charges with records and generate invoices.
7. Oversee the development of media and marketing communications for the Institute.
8. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, or related field.
Experience: 2 years in a laboratory or clinical setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
 Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
 Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive working
relationships with a wide range of professionals.
 Strong written communication skills and the ability to write understandable technical text for non-expert audiences.
 Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
 Job occasionally requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and light lifting.
 Work hours may include nights and weekends.
 Vision requirements: ability to see small objects during sample preparation and analysis.

components.
