Job Description:

Conducting Research:

  • Conducts research on minor-use pesticide registration under good laboratory Practices (GLP) guidelines, to ensure the quality and integrity of scientific research. This will involve both laboratory and field components.
  • Conduct and implement field protocols/experiments to obtain treated and non-treated fruit residue samples designed by Study Directors in compliance with EPA-USDA IR-4 Program, GLPs, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Conduct crop safety efficacy trials according to the specified protocol, analyze the results, and prepare report based on experimental findings and submit the reports to Study Director.
  • Trains and guides the field technicians in mix-loading, spray applications, and pesticide treatments according to the experimental design to ensure adherence to protocols.


Documenting and Compiling Environmental Data:

  • Document, compile, and archive environmental and procedure data.
  • Prepare reports, graphs, tables, etc., as needed in compliance with GLPs and SOPs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain IR-4 equipment in good order in compliance with GLPs and SOPs.
  • Prepare maintain and ship research residue specimens/samples for further analysis.


Consultation and Protocol Verification:

  • Consult with Study Director (SD) and/or Field Director (FD) as needed.
  • Reads the experimental protocols and verifies with the SD and/or FD the trial can be done as written.
  • Respond to requests for information from SD, FD, and IR-4 headquarters in a timely manner.
  • Repair research equipment and arrange off-site research field plots with local producers.
Expected Salary:

$19.16-$31.13/hour based on education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in agricultural science, biology, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Be reliable and detailed oriented (i.e., excellent documentation and research procedure recording skills).
  • Know how or capable of learning to operate and calibrate tractor spray equipment, laboratory, and environmental sensing equipment in compliance with SOPs and GLPs.
  • Familiarity with agricultural practices in South Florida.
