Department Profile:
The Advanced Composites Institute, or ACI, focuses on pioneering transformational composite technologies in a variety of critical sectors, including aerospace, civil, military, energy, automotive and other emerging markets. It was created at MSU with the donation of a revolutionary stitched composite process and equipment originally developed at NASA by pioneering scientist Marvin B. Dow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and monitor project progress, plans, and schedule.
2. Plan, organize, promote, facilitate, and coordinate events, including meetings, workshops, and presentations necessary for project completion.
3. Collaborate with ACI staff and external clients in coordinating and managing projects.
4. Assist in ensuring all ACI projects and activities follow federal, state, and university policies and regulations.
5. Manage daily financial activities including budget preparation, planning, and management.
6. Monitor adherence to budgets.
7. Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit.
8. Assist in monthly financial statement review and reconciliation.
9. Process, monitor, and manage grants and contracts awarded to ACI.
10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education Bachelor’s degree Related field
Experience (yrs.) Three years Directly related to the job duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in a manufacturing environment
2. Working knowledge of AS9100 certification and best practices
3. Experience with MSU grants and contracts processes
4. Master’s degree in a related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to function in a fast-paced, cross-sectional work team environment where multiple priorities must be managed simultaneously.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to work autonomously and independently to manage the project. Experience with planning and managing project budgets and reporting.
4. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
5. Ability to innovate and work as both a team member and a team leader. Ability to meet deadlines while managing frequent interruptions.
6. Knowledge of contracts and grants preparation and management.
7. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
8. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
9. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
10. Ability to organize and manage projects and prepare a written plan with objectives, actions, milestones, budgets, and timelines.
11. Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, or Windows-based operating environment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
