Chairperson
The University of Delaware seeks applications for the position of chair of the Department of Hospitality and Sport Business Management. The chair will be appointed for a five-year term, beginning no later than Fall 2025. We seek an innovative and dynamic leader with a vision to advance the department’s research and teaching while enhancing its national and international reputation and visibility. This is a tenured appointment, at the rank of full professor.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in hospitality, tourism, sport or related area; a vision for leading the department and promoting its continued growth and success; a distinguished record of scholarship; a commitment to excellence in instruction; and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with faculty, professional staff, and the administration. The chair should be able to advocate effectively for the needs and interests of the department, foster a climate of collaboration and collegiality within the department and across programs, and support the scholarship and professional development of the department’s faculty. The chair should also demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinarity and to building and furthering ties with industry and with other units across the College and the University. The Department of Hospitality and Sport Business Management consists of 14 permanent faculty members, 10 of whom are tenured or on the tenure track. Academic programs include: Ph.D. in Hospitality Business Analytics, MS degrees in Hospitality and Sport Business Analytics and Hospitality Business Management, and BS degrees in Hospitality Industry Management, Hospitality and Event Experience Management, and Sport Management, as well as 8 minors. The Department, which is committed to experiential learning, scholarship, and engagement with the business community, operates two experiential learning labs: the on-campus Courtyard by Marriott and the Vita Nova student-operated gourmet fine-dining restaurant.
