Business Intelligence Analyst

Job Description:

Assist in fielding, triaging, and fulfilling requests for data, reporting, and tooling. Interfaces with multiple departmentally utilized software systems. Collects, summarizes, and/or analyzes data related to operational metrics and outcomes. Utilizes various software packages to extract, transform, analyze, and load operational data. Makes suggestions based on findings from data analysis. Prototypes and troubleshoots internal tooling and data pipelines. Helps build value added tooling to provide operational data and information to departmental stakeholders. Identifies potential faults in systems with real time data collection and suggests solutions.

Assist subject matter experts on departmental information system usage and workflows relating to these systems. Follows established best practices and suggests improved workflows. Helps contributes to automation of workflows involving software systems by analyzing processes, data, and system interface options. Assists end users with best practices for data collection and entry where end user participation and data manipulation are required. Assists in implementation and assessment of system implementation success monitoring.

Contributes to administration and upkeep of departmentally supported system. Collaborates with Business Affairs Technical Services (BATS) and UF IT whenever needed to request support for Business Affairs or UF related systems.

Participate in operational meetings and discussions. Present findings from analyses and make recommendations based on those findings. Field and answer questions related to interpretation of results of analyses.

Supports the documentation of processes and procedures related to data collection, management, integrity, and analysis. Document recommended best practices for system usage within Facilities Services.

A criminal background will be conducted.

Drives a state vehicle that requires a valid Driver License.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 7:00am-4:00pm

Emergency work (as needed)

Swing shift/on-call/standby (as required)

Expected Salary:

$58,000 - $65,000 Annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or related discipline and 3 years related experience

SKILLS

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience with structured query language (SQL)

- Experience using various modern software systems

- Experience analyzing large data sets

- Experience utilizing REST APIs

- Experience in data analysis of tabular data

- Experience with basic electronic hardware troubleshooting.

- Experience implementing new software-based products or processes

KNOWLEDGE

- Knowledge of construction industry terminology

- Basic understanding of statistical concepts

ABILITIES

- Ability to quickly and effectively learn new software systems including front end interfaces as well as text-based interfaces

- Ability to think critically and solve problems independently

- Ability to use or learn to use at least one general purpose scripting language (Julia, Python, JavaScript, etc.)

- Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
