Job Description:

The Project Manager III (PM III) leads college-wide projects that significantly shape the clinical, fiscal, and administrative landscape of the University of Florida College of Medicine (UF COM). This role partners closely with the Chief of Staff and the Dean in strategic planning, driving projects that align with and elevate the college’s strategic priorities. As a valued member of the Office of the Dean, the PM III fosters a culture of excellence and innovation, ensuring impactful project outcomes that contribute to UF COM’s mission of advancing health through education, research, and patient care.

More About This Role

Project Development

  • Establish and implement project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet assigned expectations.
  • Define project objectives in collaboration with key stakeholders. Responsible for creating project plans and teamwork assignments, identifying resources, directing and monitoring work efforts, communicating with stakeholders and team members, performing quality review, and troubleshooting issues appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively and proactively within UF COM departments/divisions and across the UF Health Science Center, interfacing with departments and leadership to ensure there is appropriate structure and support for projects.
  • Serve as the project manager on mission-critical, high-profile, high-risk and complex projects across UF COM. Projects may be stand alone or inter-related with other initiatives within UF Health.

Project Administration/Business Operations

  • Responsible for facilitating the success of assigned projects. Define, document and consolidate the requirements from accountable leaders and work groups, delivering high quality deliverables, such as work flow diagrams, policies and procedures, project timeline documents and throughput reports.
  • Assess, plan, design and implement complex reports, to identify potential barriers and strategies, to synthesize and integrate information.
  • Gather information and coordinate the development of project budgets. Provide routine reporting on expenses in relation to budget. Prepare financial reports and documents related to various projects.
  • Assume role as a team member, technical resource, and process facilitator on projects, providing analysis as requested and contributing to the development of ideas and proposals.
  • Responsible for creating, tracking and managing timelines and budgets for implementation of projects.
  • Track issues, and manage project documentation in support of future projects.

Project Presentations

  • Communicate results of projects in written and/or oral presentations.
  • Provide project status, summary recommendations and final impact, as appropriate, according to the project time lines.
  • Develop high-quality presentation materials at the appropriate level of detail for the audience (UF Health leadership, UF COM leadership, external stakeholders, etc.)

Expected Salary:

$90,000 - $115,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of people at all levels of an organization.
  • Knowledge of project management, Six Sigma or other operational improvement methodologies.
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently, as a team leader and as a team member.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, written and oral communication necessary to interface with various levels of management.
  • Must demonstrate relevant experience in motivating people who may or may not be direct reports to work as a team in harmony with the goals of the project and the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to key stakeholders and/or leadership.
