OPS Marketing Intern

Job Description:
  • Researches sales and marketing leads and creates mailing lists for book promotions;
  • Creates promotional emails and processes new subscribers for the Press email marketing program;
  • Writes and proofreads promotional copy, press releases, and social media content;
  • Implements social media campaigns using X, Facebook, Threads, and Instagram;
  • Writes and formats blog posts using Wordpress;
  • Checks online metadata to ensure correct formatting of book information;
  • Assists with the preparation of direct mail pieces;
  • Assists in packing for book exhibits and creating exhibit virtual booths;
  • Assists in processing book reviews received;
  • Assists in maintaining Press database with excerpts from reviews received;
  • Assists in maintaining Press author events calendar;
  • Handles assorted clerical duties;
  • Participates in weekly marketing meetings to help generate ideas for promoting Press books.
Expected Salary:

$13.00

Minimum Requirements:
  • This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 semester (Fall and Spring) commitment
  • Appropriate college coursework or relevant experience in a professional setting and/or publishing, especially copyediting and proofreading.
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, etc.)
