Job Description:

The Small Animal Hospital is recruiting a veterinary technician for the Radiation Oncology service. We are seeking a technician who is passionate about the opportunities the oncology specialty can provide in prolonging the lives of their patients, while extending compassion and empathy to their patients and loved ones. An individual in this position must possess excellent communication skills and be proactive in determining the needs of the hospital. A successful applicant should enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt to a changing environment. They need to possess a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine and express a positive attitude in their daily work. The individual must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate critical thinking and professionalism.

Example of Veterinary Technician Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assist with daily intake and discharge of oncology cases
• Assist with patient evaluations or rechecks by assisting in patient restraint, obtaining and submitting samples, scheduling with other services for diagnostic or consultation purposes, and providing treatment or medications
• Perform general nursing care such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection
• Document in electronic medical records
• Schedule advanced imaging such as CT
• Assist in providing clinical anesthesia support to doctors, house officers, and other technicians/nurses
• Perform Anesthetic nursing skills such as, but not limited to, intubation, advanced anesthesia monitoring, local and regional blocks, CRI management, and arterial catheters

The service receives Monday - Friday. May require working earlier than 7:30am or later than 5:00pm
This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

Expected Salary:

Non-credentialed $18-22, Credentialed $20-25

Minimum Requirements:

Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience
Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology OR
• Credentialed veterinary technician
