Job Description:

A student office assistant is needed as the Senate Secretary for Student Government. The employer is looking for a professional, well organized, and detail oriented person to aid in the daily operations of the Student Senate.

  • Coordinate and prepare minutes for weekly meetings of the Student Senate.
  • Attend each regularly scheduled Senate meeting on Tuesday nights at 7pm.
  • Attend scheduled Special Sessions and new Student Senators’ orientation.
  • Responsible for maintaining current rosters of Senators, affiliation forms, student body laws, resolutions, and rules and procedures.
  • Assign bill numbers and prepare packets of agenda, bills, and voting records prior to Senate meetings.
  • Direct the flow of legislation that gets approved by Senate to SG officers, UF Administrators and submit to SG Finance.
  • Receive applications, set appointments, and assist in the process to determine if students are qualified to hold senate seats before being interviewed by committee.
  • Update roster, voting records, and other documents on the SG website.
  • Maintain Senate listserv and send listserv messages.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator – Student Government and the Office Manager.
  • Various other duties as assigned.
  • Report to Assistant Director
Expected Salary:

$15.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be available to start working Spring & Summer 2025
  • Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with the University
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being dependable, productive, paying attention to details and maintaining effective communication
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings and evaluations
  • This position is open to all students who are eligible and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

  • Self-starting and self-motivated
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and a professional attitude
  • Microsoft Office computer skills
  • Federal work study is encouraged, but not required
  • Familiarity working in an office environment
