Network Technician Internship

OPS Intern or Student Intern

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated, part-time Network Technician Intern to join ICT Field Operations Change Request and Fixes Team, a unit within UFIT for the Spring semester. The intern will assisting with the Team with OSI layer 1 and 2 connections within building networks, UPS maintenance, documentation updates, wireless troubleshooting and routine maintenance, and other tasks assigned based on ticket user requests.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

Understanding OSI layer 1 and 2 networking
Detail oriented and systematic approaches to problems
Prioritizing and planning work and tasks

Some key learning outcomes for the student intern are:

Basic understanding of building level network support and maintenenance
Approaches and techniques for troubleshooting network issues
Exposure to networking tools and operations.

$13.00 to $16.00 per hour

UF Student Assistant

This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

OPS Intern

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

• OSI layer 1 and 2 networking
• Cisco switching background
• Basic network troubleshooting skills
• Detail-oriented
• Willingness to learn
