Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated, part-time Network Technician Intern to join ICT Field Operations Refresh and Rehabs Team, a unit within UFIT for the Spring semester. The intern will assisting with the Team with life-cycling OSI layer 1 and 2 connections within building networks both wired and wireless, documentation updates, and other tasks based upon building network project needs.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

Understanding OSI layer 1 and 2 networking
Detail oriented and systematic approaches to completing project tasks
Prioritizing and planning work and tasks


Some key learning outcomes for the student intern are:

Basic understanding of building level network design and deployment
Approaches and techniques for deploying a production network
Exposure to networking tools and operations.

Expected Salary:

$13.00 to $16.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

UF Student Assistant

This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

OPS Intern

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Basic understanding of OSI layer 1 and 2 networking
  • Cisco switching background
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Willingness to learn
