Job Description:

Position Function:

The Assistant Director, under the Supervision of the Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing, the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services and the Provost, works closely with university officials in disseminating information about Mississippi State University. In addition, the Assistant Director coordinates and supervises the implementation of the recruitment goals set by the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develops, manages, and implements recruitment strategies to enroll a diverse student population
2. Works with administrators, faculty, and other University personnel to enhance recruiting efforts.
3. Provides information and guidance to prospective students, guardians, high school and community college counselors.
4. Develops, manages, and implements operational procedures for the Office of Student Recruitment
5. Represents MSU at conferences, meetings, and other official programs.
6. Coordinates targeted recruitment activities, events, programs, and marketing to enroll a diverse student population
7. Serves as liaison between the Office of Student Recruitment and campus departments.
8. Works closely with the Division of Access, Opportunity and Support.
9. Works directly with the office of Pre-College and oversees any pre-college programming with the office of Student Recruitment.
10. Assists with the Campus Visit Program
11. Assists with the Roadrunner Program as needed
12. Examines and evaluates systems to improve the workflow process in the Office of Student Recruitment.
13. Trains and supervises the Admissions Counselors that work within the academic colleges
14. Recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance recruitment operations
15. Performs additional duties as required by the Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services, and the Provost.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. At least three years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Leadership, or a related area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives instruction from the Director of Student Recruitment.

SUPERVISION GIVEN: The Assistant Director may directly or indirectly supervise Admission Counselors, support staff, graduate assistants, and students.

RELATIONSHIPS: Participates in the Division of Academic Affairs planning and in development of goals and procedures relating to the recruitment of new students to Mississippi State University
