Job Description:

Position Function:

This position will support research efforts in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) Laboratory at CAVS. This will include working with the metal-based AM equipment in the lab and performing tasking related to funded and unfunded efforts in the AM lab.

Salary Grade: UC

Department Profile:

The Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) at Mississippi State University is an interdisciplinary center comprised of research, engineering design & development, and technology transfer teams for industry and government partners. Our overall effort is focused on developing superior computational, engineering, manufacturing, design, and information technologies relevant to Mississippi and regional industries. This is accomplished by bringing together world-class technologists and technologies to solve complex problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Completing research tasking for sponsor-funded projects including, but not limited to, designing of experiments, integration of sensors, performing experiments, data analysis, and report writing. This position will also performing writing duties for future proposals and peer-reviewed manuscripts.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in an engineering-related discipline

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.

Routine deadlines, usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressure from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically, ability to distinguish colors.
