Position Function:

The Department of Philosophy & Religion and the Shackouls Honors College invite applicants for a non-tenure track appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025. This role will be responsible for teaching and service.

Salary Grade: UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

4/4 teaching load. Schedule and maintain specific office hours for the purpose of answering student questions and preparing lecturers and other class material. Will serve half-time as a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy and half-time as a Faculty Fellow in the Shackouls Honors College.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful applicants will hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or related discipline at time of appointment and demonstrate potential to teach at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Develop and teach a range of undergraduate course in their field of expertise and perform standard service roles.
Research activity is encouraged and supported.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ability to work as a member of an multidisciplinary team of scholars is desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Mentor honors students from a variety of different majors. Teach seminars in the liberal arts tradition and perform service roles related to instruction and pedagogy.
