Position Function:

The Department of Philosophy & Religion at Mississippi State University invites applicants for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025. This role will be responsible for teaching, research, and service.

Salary Grade: UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

3/3 teaching load. Demonstrate creativity and excellence in research and scholarship. Schedule and maintain specific office hours for the purpose of answering student questions and preparing lecturers and other class material.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful applicants will hold a Ph.D. in philosophy or a closely related field at the time of appointment and demonstrate the potential to teach at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate success in undergraduate teaching
Interest in those who might teach History of Philosophy (Ancient, Early Modern) or topics involving underrepresented perspectives in Philosophy
Promising research program

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ability to work as a member of an multidisciplinary team of scholars is desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
