Job Description:

Fundraising & Relationship Development

  • Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects at the major gift levels ($100,000+) and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring gift solicitations to closure.
  • Within 36 months of start date, develop portfolio that will consistently raise $750K - $1M per year or more in support of UF Law averaging 140-160 personal visits annually and 10-15 gift solicitations per year of $50,000 or more.
  • Maximize travel plans to strategic geographic regions for major gift solicitation/donor engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Estate & Gift Planning team to develop and implement a giving strategy for qualified donors at the planned giving level.

Development Strategy

  • Set and implement strategies for identification, qualification, relationship-building, and solicitation to close and steward major gifts.
  • Collaborate with college partners to understand and formulate priorities and opportunities related to individual gifts at the appropriate level.
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of the UF Law mission, strategy, and goals as they relate to fundraising.
  • Acknowledge and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the mission, visions, and values of UF Law and UF Advancement.

Alumni Affairs

  • Serve as the liaison to the Law Alumni Council Membership Committee, working directly with alumni committee members as a representative of UF Law.
  • Attend and support alumni events and initiatives, partnering with colleagues to involve alumni when appropriate.
  • Plan and execute select regional alumni engagement events.

Administrative

  • Ensure best practices in office systems, files, and record keeping.
  • Ensure effective use of strategic tools and resources, such as contact reports, prospect management, research analysis, and UFF database.
  • Contribute to the planning and monitoring of event and travel budget.

Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience in alumni affairs or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience in alumni affairs or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • One to three years of fundraising, development, sales, or related experience.
  • Prior experience in a university or nonprofit environment.
  • General knowledge and understanding of business/economic environment.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and be a team player.
  • Competency in problem-solving.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a broad constituency.
  • Proven success working with stakeholders; project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required.
  • Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, WWW browsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail. Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management, and tracking system.
  • The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver's license and good driving record are essential.*
