Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking a Student PR Specialist to join the IT-Communications team. Being a Student PR Specialist for UFIT is an excellent opportunity to learn about managing a communications channel portfolio and telling great stories across the digital sphere. You’ll get the experience needed for the next level!

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

This position is year-round. The primary work location for this position is in the 720 Building (720 S.W. 2nd Avenue), one block east of Infinity Hall.

UFIT’s Student PR Specialist supports the communications and outreach needs of the division by:

  • Writing, photographing, and editing content for two social media channels
  • Developing video scripts and being on-cam for student-focused video messages uploaded to UFIT’s YouTube channel
  • Writing content and submitting web requests about IT-based services to a variety of UF communication channels
  • Creating graphics using Canva or desktop publishing platforms
  • Serving on a team that delivers on numerous PR plans and outreach events throughout the year
  • Evaluating content and metrics of UFIT’s website and social media as well as those of the top-10 public universities (peer review analysis)

Expected Salary:

$14.50/hour

Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student graduating no earlier than Fall 2025
  • Well-versed in AP Style
  • Able to clearly communicate value, whether it’s in a social media post, story, or video script
  • Comfortable engaging with university faculty, students, and staff
  • Basic Excel skills

The dress code for this position is business medium attire for each shift (e.g., no t-shirts, shorts, or flip flops.)

This is a part-time position. Student PR Specialists may work between 10 and 20 hours per week, depending on schedule.
