4-H Extension Program Assistant

Job Description:

Maintains 4-H Club and office checking accounts.
Makes bank deposits.
Prepares balance reports for 4-H Clubs.
Trains volunteers on 4-H Club management and on-line enrollment.

Assists in the registration and enrollment of 4-H program participants.
Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
Gathers resources for 4-H families; provides information regarding 4-H programs to the general public.

Assists with the youth and volunteer programming.
Plans and provides programming in schools, outside of schools and during club meetings.

Creates and distributes 4-H newsletters, flyers, exhibits and social media posts.
Maintains and updates the 4-H Social Media platforms.
Designs programs, certificates, invitations, and promotional items.

Manages 4-H communication with volunteers and families via appropriate platforms.

Manages and maintains volunteer records. Communicates with and trains volunteers as necessary.

Expected Salary:

$16.77-$18/hourly, commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of 4-H Program policies and procedures.
Knowledge of modern office principles and practices.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to operate a computer.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

SUPERVISION:

The 4-H Agent assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

This employee will work various hours depending on upcoming events. Although the regular workday is 8-5 Monday through Friday with a 60-minute lunch, nights and occasional weekends will be required.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.

Working Conditions: Work has some exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather and/or field conditions) or irate customers.

Risk/Safety Conditions: This position has some exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety.

Essential Physical Activities: Stooping, sitting, crouching, walking, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pulling, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.

COMMUNICATION:

Contacts are typically with co-workers, county personnel, teachers and students, volunteer groups, elected and appointed officials, media representatives, community-based organizations, governmental agencies, and members of the general public.

Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, or to resolve problems.
