Job Description:

AP Reporting: Responsible for the accurate and timely update of reports and case records in laboratory information system according to established departmental procedures. This may include preliminary draft reports, reports from send outs or additional testing, and creating addendums as requested. Type results and/or interpretations for Preliminary Medical Reports or Final Reports previously created from rough drafts,
notes and/or oral instructions as provided by attending physician.

AP Accessions: Prepare Anatomic Pathology laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Perform data entry of requisition, test order and specimen in laboratory information system (LIS) source, labeling specimens and scanning paperwork according to policy and regulatory guidelines. Notes any discrepancy and follows up utilizing department resources. Accurately documents all steps in pre-analytic process and follows up on issues for resolution.

Triage: Accurately receive and record incoming specimens/slides/blocks into daily receipt log, Prioritize and sort specimens for accessioning to include checking Clinical Lab bins periodically throughout shift for AP
specimens. Unpack materials, verify specimen and requisition meet requirements and are problem-free.
Document discrepancies or missing information and forward to Client Services. Route specimens by type
and priority to various staging areas.

Registration - Collects patient demographics and insurance information and ensures required details are included on forms. Verify insurance coverage and all patient identity issues before accessioning. Create and modify submitters in EPIC LIS according to departmental procedure.

Intake/Slide control: Receive and track slides/cases to and from UF Health Pathology Laboratories locations. Distribute slides to the appropriate pathologist or laboratory department. Respond to requests for blocks at intake station and histology. File blocks at intake station and slides in archive when needed. Assist and research issues with locating material

Expected Salary:

Starting salary is between $16.00 - $16.75 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with patient registration and insurance.
Experience with EPIC or other EMR, LIS.
Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to work independently to research information.
