Job Description:

Project Participation and Fieldwork

Participate with field crews in vegetation and sediment monitoring across the Florida Panhandle. Conduct site assessments to evaluate the success of restoration efforts and identify areas for improvement. Collect and document field data, including plant species identification, sediment characteristics, and environmental conditions. Attend project team meetings to select restoration sites and develop restoration plans. Coordinate logistics for fieldwork, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment management. Driving to different locations for field work is required.

Data Management and Analysis
Follow established methods to manage and analyze data, including GIS work and basic field data analysis. Conduct inventory and generate field reports, figures, and tables for data reports. Write data reports and occasionally present data/information to the public or research partners. Utilize computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAS, ArcView, and Arcinfo for data organization and presentation. Maintain accurate and organized records of all data collected and analyses performed.

Communication and Coordination
Assist with communicating with multiple field technicians, communicating with project partners, and multiple state and federal agencies. Prepare and distribute regular updates and reports to project stakeholders.

Training Support
Assist with training of undergraduates and technicians which include, but is not limited to, training in field sampling methods, field collection methods and GPS use. Assist with hiring of part time employees.

Expected Salary: $22.98/hr - $25.00/hr
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field. Must have a valid FL driving license.
Preferred Qualifications:

Background in vegetation, sediment, and geolocation sampling

Knowledge of coastal dune restoration

Tolerance for biting insects and hot humid field conditions is required.

Experience utilizing computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAS, ArcView and Arcinfo etc. to organize research data for analysis and presentation
