Job Description:

The Maintenance Generalist II with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations inspects and performs preventative maintenance on all UF/IFAS-owned buildings at the Southwest Florida Research Center in Immokalee, Florida. Driving a state vehicle to work sites is required.

Reports directly to assigned IFAS FPO Superintendent and works closely with the SWFREC-Immokalee Center Director and staff/faculty. Performs various forms of building maintenance, including but not limited to:

Maintains and repairs electrical and plumbing systems, changing light bulbs, faucet repair, drain line cleaning and repair. May include locating and digging up piping or conduits in need of repairs. Interacts with work order system on a daily basis; Performs electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance.

Performs HVAC repair and troubleshooting, requiring familiarity with chilled water systems, VAV EF and lab environments. Changes filters, belts, fans etc. Performs inspections for life safety systems.

Performs carpentry, roof inspections, painting, door and hardware repair, roof repairs, pressure washing, and building maintenance tasks.

Coordinates with outside contractors, trades for performing work. Interacts with state fire marshal for code-compliance inspections.

Performs other facility maintenance-related duties as required. Interacts and works with contractors, internal/external faculty and staff, and administration on a daily basis. Job requires use of state vehicles. Performs other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) years of relevant experience.

Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Must maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience is strongly preferred.

Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the preferred experience. Knowledge of proper use of carpentry tools, knowledge of proper tools for specific jobs, skills in performing finished carpentry, ability to follow instruction and to work with limited supervision.
