Job Description:

Dental assist in clinic specialty areas as needed, which would include the Faculty Practice Clinic. The following would be required:

  • provide “four-handed” dental assisting in a broad array of non-surgical and surgical care.
  • setting up and breaking down dental operatories
  • taking and processing dental x-rays
  • maintaining and sterilizing dental instruments
  • instruction of patients in oral hygiene and post-operative care and maintenance of a large assortment of dental instrumentation
  • Keep clinic clean and organized
  • Also serve as back up assistant to Dental assistant in Faculty Practice.
  • Assists with other duties as required to maintain efficient flow of patient care.
  • Position would also serve as back up receptionist as needed to the Graduate Clinic. These duties would include answering phone, scheduling patients for 12 residents and a Hygienist. Also scheduling inside and outside referrals for the clinic.

Monday - Thursday 7:30AM-5PM
Friday 7:30AM-1:30PM

Expected Salary:

$17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and one year of appropriate experience and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of dental hygiene principles and practices.
- Knowledge of dental terminology.

SKILLS
- Skill in performing four-handed dentistry.
- Skill in performing expanded duties.
- Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Skill in maintaining records and using a computer for patient management.

ABILITIES
- Ability to identify and maintain dental instruments.
- Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
- Ability to work independently.
