Job Description:

Collect and manage data on agricultural production costs and commodity markets. Develop computerized databases to facilitate data entry, storage, filtering, sorting, searching and retrieval of requested data items. Utilize guidelines for statistical reporting governed by unit procedures to obtain data from various websites, print sources, and personal communications. Enter data into databases. Update the data regularly.

Assist with data visualization, interpretation, and analysis. Retrieve data from databases and prepare summaries, tables, charts, and graphs. Explain what the data represent. Identify trends over time and relationships between variables. Use software to conduct statistical tests or probability simulation.

Communicate with extension agents, specialists, and agricultural producers about production practices. Collaborate with agricultural input suppliers, equipment manufacturers and dealers, agricultural commodity buyers, and government agencies to obtain quotes, price lists, and reports.

Perform other related work as necessary.

Expected Salary:

$40,000 - $50,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient keyboarding skills and the ability to enter and process information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to use appropriate database structures to organize, store, and retrieve data.
  • Experience managing large data sets using database software or spreadsheets.
  • Experience using statistical software or simulation software.
  • Familiarity with corn, cotton, or other row crop production.
  • Familiarity with futures markets for corn, cotton, or other agricultural commodities.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • High-level communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Master’s degree.
