Job Description:

Position Function:

Provides photography, videography, and some graphic design services for social media and digital and print marketing materials. The position reports to the Campus Services Manager of Communications.

This position is part time.

Salary Grade: 14

Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Captures and provides images for use on social media, website, and print publications for Campus Services
-Creates and utilizes a photo and video library for Campus Services to produce specialized editorial content (photo, video, graphics, etc.) for digital media use as well as to support copy written for publications and promotional pieces.
-Supports content development for various social media accounts with engaging photos and videos
-Performs accurate editing, correction, archival and file storage of photos
-Collaborates proactively with manager of communications to ensure consistent output of high-quality photos in line with Mississippi State’s brand identity standards.
-Utilizes editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
-Possesses a strong attention to detail along with basic organization skills.
-Stays abreast of the University’s social media policies and standards and industry best practices.
-Has a flexible work schedule.
-Reports to the Communications Manager.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field with one (1) year of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

-General knowledge of Adobe Photoshop with regards to photo composition and accurate color correction.
-Independent decision-making skills and ability to multi-task.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Adept in still photography and basic videography and video editing
-Basic knowledge of photographic technology, equipment, and techniques, including editing and organization.
-Has a familiar knowledge of Canon cameras and lenses.
-Basic competency in applying theories, principles, and techniques of photography and design.
-Basic graphic design skills, including knowledge of and ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite.
-Ability to manage and manipulate digital image files.
-Ability to interact and collaborate with colleagues to produce the highest quality images.
-Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
-Excellent organizational skills
-Strong initiative/self-motivation and reliable follow through; Requires minimal supervision
-Creativity and artistic judgment.
-Reliability and ability to meet deadlines.
-High level of customer service skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

-Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, dust, dirt, etc. during photo/video shoots
-Job frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, kneeling/crouching/
crawling, talking, hearing, listening, balancing, handling objects with hands
-Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically; ability to distinguish colors.
