This position is responsible for writing, editing and sharing various news and stories from across the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP). This includes writing materials to be used on the college website, newsroom, printed publications, social media, and other channels. The Writer will collaborate with the Communications Director and other marketing and communications staff to produce and distribute content. The Writer will report to the Director of Communications. Essential functions for the Writer position include: Writing and editing newsroom stories that cover students, faculty, alumni, events and other news that celebrate and inform our readers. Will require collaboration with the college’s Marketing and Communications (marcom) staff to manage content distribution, brand alignment and search engine optimization (SEO) objectives. Content will likely have associated elements such as thought leadership and reputation management that will require the Writer to incorporate content strategy objectives. Produce email communications, including the monthly college e-newsletter, using software such as Mailster and SalesForce. Assist with writing, planning, and supporting social and video projects. This may include identifying topics and b-roll opportunities, developing creative briefs, interviewing, script writing, captioning or other copy that supports a consistent voice in communication materials. |
Expected Salary: |
$51,000 - $58,000 annually, commensurate with education, experience, and skills. |
Minimum Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an associate's degree and two years of relevant experience. |
