Postdoctoral Associate

Conducting and developing research related to tissue engineering and materials science for SCI applications. Compiling and analyzing data. Writing reports and manuscripts and discussing/presenting results. (2) Mentoring graduate students and/or undergraduate students as needed for the project. (3) Participation in writing grant proposals and creating progress reports. (4) Working with Dr. Schmidt and her research leadership team (Research Coordinator and other Postdocs) to help provide technical and strategic oversight of lab projects and research direction.

$50,000 minimum

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a related biomedical engineering/science area with strong cell culture and animal surgical skills. Applicants must have experience with manuscript preparation and submission. Experience with grant writing and managing students is not required but is desired.

In vivo surgical skills and experience with histology and immunohistochemistry are required, and familiarity with spinal cord research and models is essential. Candidates should also have background training and experience in animal handling and behavioral analysis, biomaterials/scaffold design, materials characterization, cell culture, microscopy, basic cell biology and immunocytochemistry assays, and in vitro assessment of cell-biomaterials interactions.

Experience with grant writing and managing students is not required but is desired.
