Job Description:

The University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida is seeking a Professor in the Department of History and Center for African Studies, with duties comprised of teaching, research, and service. Teaching duties include—but are not limited to—teaching graduate courses involving African Environmental History, The Cold War and Decolonization in Africa, Extractive Minerals in the Global South, and the History of Africa. Research activities will be performed within African Area Studies Paradigms or other related research areas within the Humanities or Social Sciences fields. As Director of the Center for African Studies, the position will also be responsible for administrative duties centered around stewardship and eventual renewal of the Title VI Center funding, along with efforts to diversify the Center’s funding base by obtaining other support from foundations, agencies, and private sources.

Telecommuting/working from home permitted.

Minimum Requirements:

Position requires a Ph.D. degree in African Area Studies Paradigms or other related areas within the Humanities or Social Sciences.
