Job Description:

The Museum Store Clerk, who will be supervised by the Director of Visitor Engagement, is responsible for customer service, transactions, stocking and maintaining displays, cleaning glass cases, dusting shelves, and other duties as assigned. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Executes all types of customer transactions using the Point of Sale system and credit card machine.
  • Assists with customer questions regarding store merchandise and general museum information.
  • Answers store phone promptly and courteously.
  • Prepares merchandise to be shipped to customers when appropriate.
  • Maintains friendly and courteous attitude in all customer interactions.
  • Keeps displays stocked and orderly.
  • At manager’s discretion, changes out store displays.
  • Cleans glass cases and dusts display shelves when needed.
  • Polishes silver and gold jewelry regularly.
  • Maintains orderly storage room.

This is a part-time position with hours to include but not limited to: Thursdays 5pm - 9pm; Saturdays 10am - 5pm; Sundays 1pm - 5pm. Additional hours may be required based on the needs of the museum.

Advertised Salary:

$14.00/hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma required.

  • Prior retail experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to answer questions and deal with awkward situations
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and flexible

  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends
