Job Description:

In coordination with SIP staff, this position requires the procurement and analysis of information and documents from a variety of university, hospital, and other sources in order to respond to litigation needs, including but not limited to pre-suit responses and litigation discovery demands for Program participants located throughout the state of Florida.

Under the supervision of program Attorneys, this position will be responsible for preparing, memoranda, correspondence, simple pleadings, and notes concerning litigation matters, ranging from before a claim is filed and continuing post-verdict.

The incumbent will be required to organize, actively update, and maintain physical documents and computer files for all pre-suit and litigation matters.

This position will be responsible for assisting in, developing, and updating various databanks, including but not limited to various claims tracking logs containing detailed documentation of a wide variety of content related to claims.

This position will provide support to program Attorneys as the primary liaison for all library searches, IDEX searches, and legal research. The incumbent will use reference material generally available within a law library and Westlaw.

This position will assist with the preparation of Settlement Agreements & Release Requests as well as Attorney Assignment and Expert Review Letters, help ensure compliance with state guidelines and actively participate in efficient litigation management.

This position may require coordination, development, and implementation of other related Administrative projects on an as needed basis.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Paralegal degree/certificate or minimum of three years of law-related experience under the supervision of a qualified attorney are strongly preferred, as well as working familiarity with both legal and medical terminology.

Current Commission or eligibility for commission as a Notary Public for the State of Florida preferred.

High lievel of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access preferred.

Information technology certificates and/or medical training preferred.
