JOB SUMMARY:

At NORC, we are dedicated to advancing global knowledge and understanding across various fields through in-depth research and analysis. We seek a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Advanced Data Solutions team.

DEPARTMENT:

NORC is a recognized innovator in secure data management, linkage, and sharing. The NORC Data Enclave® is an integral part of the Advanced Data Solutions Center. The Enclave’s high-performance computational environment and virtual desktop infrastructure provide users with convenient access to database, statistical, analytical, visualization, and reporting tools that enable evidence-based discovery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and architect secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
  • Implement and manage cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, and automation.
  • Monitor and maintain cloud systems health, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest cloud technologies and best practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior roles.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Understanding of networking principles, security best practices, and cloud monitoring tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Proficient in scripting languages (Typescript, Javascript, Python, Bash, etc.).

Desired Skills

  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • CI/CD pipeline development and management
SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The pay range for this position is $104,000 – $157,000.

This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
