General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and ensure safety of youth throughout the day in programs and overnight in the cabins
  • Assist in other duties as assigned by the camp directors
  • Set a positive example for all participants, including cleanliness, punctuality, language, sportsmanship, and table manners
  • Follow all camp rules and regulations, including those of appropriate attire, no smoking, vaping, or use of alcohol or illegal drugs
  • Encourage and practice respect of personal property, camp equipment, and facilities
  • Assist with housekeeping responsibilities in preparation for upcoming camp weeks
  • Communicate any problems or issues as they arise during the camp week to your supervisor and/or team members

Cabin Leader additional responsibilities include:

  • Be the primary caregiver to campers’ social, emotional, and physical needs
  • Support Summer Camp Specialists during hands-on activities and assist in behavior management throughout the day and night
  • Oversee and manage cabin cleanliness, conduct a daily cabin inspection, and report any repairs that need to be made to the Assistant Camp Director
  • Contribute to and work during evening programs
  • Lead group recreational activities during cabin time and as needed
Salary

$300/week, plus room and board and workers’ compensation coverage

Minimum Requirements:
  • Desire and ability to work with youth and adults in a camp setting
  • Work 5/15/24 – 7/26/24, with 2.5 weeks of paid training in youth development and supervision, behavior management, the experiential learning process, and other tools for a successful summer program
  • Ability to accept and adapt to guidance and supervision
  • Must be willing to obtain American Red Cross certification in CPR/FA/AED
  • Background screenings are required
  • At least 18 years of age by May 15, 2024
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Driver’s License
  • American Red Cross certification in CPR/FA/AED
  • Experience working with youth in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience exhibiting responsibility and reliability
Special Instructions to Applicants:
  • Meals are provided during camp events
  • Lodging provided from May 15, 2024, through July 31, 2024, on-site
  • Staff are not required to work most weekends, unless the camp has booked a weekend rental group. If interested in working these groups, you will receive additional pay. For weekends with no groups, all Camp Staff will have at least 24-48 hours off between Friday and Sunday.
