POSITION SUMMARYProvides secretarial support and assists in the administrative and functional aspects of a departmental office and compiles information in order to produce departmental reports.
Be the “face” of MSU Extension (MSUE) in District 11 South covering Wayne County. Provide secretarial support for the MSU Extension District Director and assist in the administrative and functional aspects of Extension, specifically in concert with the Extension Business Office and Human Resources. Support MSU Extension staff in a manner consistent with delivery of Extension programs and events, and work in a manner that fosters a welcoming, inclusive environment for visitors and staff. This position will also provide backup support for District 11 North, covering Oakland and Macomb Counties.
Serving as the first point of contact in a county office, you will greet visitors and answer the phone. You will also perform general office duties such as, performing daily maintenance of office equipment and arranging for repairs, requisition and check in office and copier supplies, compile records and submit bills for district products or services, and sort and distribute mail. You will provide assistance to staff by directing them to appropriate campus-based resources, including support for computer-related issues and problems, while following University and Extension policies and procedures to address and resolve questions, problems and emergencies, and may assist in making arrangements for meetings, program-related activities, etc., which support the Institutes in state-wide programmatic efforts. Additionally, you will act as a liaison with appropriate University department(s) to assist with office space/lease needs or requirements.
In this role, you will provide secretarial support for the District Directors, including scheduling appointments, assisting with correspondence, and providing support for managerial responsibilities of the District Directors. You will research and collect data in order to assist in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and/or reports, and will establish and maintain files in support of multiple counties and related functions. Additionally, you will maintain appointment calendars, arrange travel reservations, and complete related financial transactions for the District Directors.
You will also assist the District Directors in ensuring consistency with policies and procedures and conformity to University expectations, as needed and act as a liaison with MSU Extension Human Resources, when needed. Working with the District Directors and search committee members, you will partner with Extension HR in support of recruiting efforts. You will provide guidance to ensure appropriate processes are utilized and all University and Extension policies are adhered to. Your duties may include assisting with advertisement of job postings (e.g., local ads), communication, scheduling activities, and system updates. You will be provided with training to become an authorized I-9 verifier and you will assist with the completion of I-9s, and where applicable, be responsible for coordination of completion of the I-9 for new hires and re-certifications within the districts. Additionally, you will provide guidance and support to county secretaries with direction from District Director as needed.
Acting as a liaison with the MSU Extension Business Office, you will provide support with regard to any business and finance matter. Your work will include preparation and routing of expenditure documents to ensure appropriate approvals and recordkeeping requirements for the MSUE Business Office. You will assist with the administration of district operational budgets as assigned by the District Directors, and you will act as an ad hoc business resource for MSUE staff located in off-campus offices. You will be responsible for generating operating statements and information using MSU’s financial system, including sub account reports, labor distribution reports, etc. for all counties in the districts.
This position may be eligible to utilize a flexible work environment, however, there is an expectation to work from a MSU Extension County office. The needs, responsibilities, and opportunities of an individual’s position and office location drive the ability and amount of work-location flexibility.
There will be space available to work from the MSU Extension Office at Focus Hope in Wayne County.

Characteristic Duties/Responsibilities
Provides secretarial support for the District Directors.
Maintains and reconciles the bookkeeping records for multiple departments and/or programs in order to assist with budget planning and forecasting.
Researches and collects data in order to assist in the preparation of grants, proposals, and departmental reports.
Initiates and follows-through on all paperwork associated with filling and/or creating academic and staff positions in the department.
Assists in developing policies and procedures for the office.
Follows University and departmental policies and procedures in order to address and resolve questions, problems, and emergencies.
Performs other duties normally associated with a Secretary I or II in order to ensure the completion of necessary work.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education and three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in maintaining accounting ledgers and/or experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and/or desktop publishing software. Knowledge of presentation and web page software and technical terminology and/or technical training as needed to provide secretarial support to administrators and departmental staff. Combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
This position requires or will require, prior to the completion of the probationary period: knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use e-mail and the Internet.

POSITION SUMMARY
As part of MSU Extension (MSUE), the Children & Youth Institute (CYI), and with support from the 4-H Staff Development & Supervising Educator, District Director and Institute Director, this position provides leadership and oversight for growth and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants with a particular focus on the Spanish speaking populations in Kent County. Working with the supervising educator, this position will work in concert with the CYI to ensure alignment of programs with overall goals of the Institute and organization.
As a member of the Children and Youth Institute, you will recruit, select, and train volunteers who engage with you in the local 4-H Youth Development Program, and ensure that that MSU Extension Volunteer Selection Process is followed. You will identify opportunities for program promotion, expansion, and evaluation, as well as promote the visibility of 4-H and strengthen public understanding of 4-H and MSU Extension programs. You will work to build new partnerships which will result in programs being delivered within schools and community groups. A particular focus is on reaching youth in Kent County. Through your efforts, you will ensure that youth and volunteer audiences are reached through established and newly developed programs, providing leadership to these groups through 4-H clubs, after school programs, youth mentoring, etc. You will provide information and opportunities for learning through the use of technology, mass media, group meetings, workshops, and individual contacts.
In this position, you will recruit and train volunteers who will conduct direct programming with youth. You will also conduct some direct programming with youth, but focus will be on developing partnerships and program expansion. In working closely with the District Director and Supervising Educator, you’ll conduct formal and/or informal needs assessments that will drive strategies for program topics and delivery methods. You will lead and advise local 4-H groups in managing funds to support 4-H youth work and conduct financial management training to 4-H councils, committees, clubs, etc. on a regular basis.
You will be responsible for initiating efforts to expand Extension programs to the unreached, including limited resource families, youth, minorities, and the disabled. Primary program delivery will be through in-school, after-school, and short-term special interest groups. You will plan, organize, and implement youth development programs that are relevant to the needs of residents in Kent County. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating information about newly implemented and existing 4-H programs and activities (progress, objectives, target dates, problems addressed, etc.) to your supervisor, District Director, and Institute leadership.
Working collaboratively, you will work with other local 4-H staff to prepare and submit the county 4-H youth development program plan, annual reports, and other necessary reports. You will be provided with professional development to help you build skills and knowledge related to volunteer screening and management, youth development, and program management.
Through your work, you will create, promote, and represent MSU Extension in activities, meetings, events, etc. in a manner that reflects collegial connection with the community, the research and knowledge of the University, and the goodwill of MSU Extension.

Operate independently, ensuring that program delivery follows established guidelines and meets the goals set for reaching the desired number of youths locally and statewide.
Use program development and advisory committees and conduct needs assessments in conjunction with local program partners to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate youth development programs, identify needs, opportunities, and carry-out programming that is relevant to the needs of county residents.
Provide leadership, management and oversight of all county-based financial resources related to 4-H programs.

Position Summary

Purpose:
The Mechanical Systems Engineer serves as the subject matter expert for mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building control systems that support the FRIB User Facility’s accelerator and experimental (technical) systems. This position provides engineering leadership and consultant management for the planning, design, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of these critical systems, ensuring their reliable integration with accelerator and experimental equipment. The role ensures compliance with applicable engineering standards and environmental, safety, health, and quality requirements while supporting project execution and integration across accelerator, experimental, and conventional facility systems.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Serve as the accelerator systems subject matter expert for specific interpretation of engineering requirements, project requirements development, codes, and standards, and manage engineering standards and procedures, support the design review process, and the value engineering program.
Oversee mechanical and plumbing system commissioning activities to ensure systems operate according to design intent and project specifications.
Coordinate and oversee HVAC testing, adjusting, and balancing activities and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
Provide engineering support for mechanical systems in the FRIB Accelerator System and Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and implementation activities.
Coordinate technical aspects of the project engineering process to produce efficient designs that meet the technical baseline requirements and develop conceptual designs for mechanical, plumbing, and building control systems for facility projects and upgrades.
Manage and oversee preventative maintenance strategies for mechanical and plumbing infrastructure.
Review system performance data and assist in troubleshooting operational issues.
Prepare, present, and implement results and expectations to internal and external review committees.
Implement system requirements, drawing and specification control, review major procurement packages, and address Quality Assurance (QA) actions. Ensure system compliance with Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) and QA requirements.
Interface with accelerator systems, experimental systems, and conventional facilities project engineers to assure integration across functional areas.
Evaluate the impact of new loads added to existing mechanical and plumbing systems and recommend system modifications as needed.
Serve as the primary interface between internal departments, contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.

Position Summary
The Academic Program Coordinator provides primary support for the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition graduate student programs (Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science and in Human Nutrition, Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Master of Science in Food Regulatory Affairs), organizes/coordinates program events and provides back-up support for undergraduate programs.
Core duties and responsibilities include:
Graduate Student Program (75%):
Provides support to the Graduate Program Director and Graduate Affairs Committee (GAC)
Provides support for all aspects of the graduate student program; manages the application process, prepares and arranges acceptance or rejection correspondence to applicants, coordinates and participates in assistantship and scholarship application and selection process, degree audit and milestones within SIS for program requirements
Attends Graduate School meetings
Staff advisor for the FSHN Grad Student Organization
Coordinates financial support for graduate students’ programs through various funding sources
Processes graduate scholarships and assistantships
Serves as a liaison with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and other important constituents to answer questions on behalf of the graduate programs.
