Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as station representative to current and potential advertising clients.
2. Monitor program content for compliance with Federal regulations and licensee standards; monitor broadcasts for quality, content and technical standards; develop and implement policies and procedures as approved by the CCO.
3. Ensure station is following and within F.C.C. guidelines in regards to signal length, frequency allocation, towers and E.B.S. broadcasts.
4. Manage and monitor the station budget; analyze and justify the need for additional funds; submit student timesheets; negotiate and maintain any agreements and contracts with outside organizations and agencies.
5. Coordinate with station engineer to ensure station is within F.C.C. guidelines.
6. Ensure the purchase, upkeep, repair and replacement of equipment under the guidance of the VPSC; operate equipment used in radio production such as hardware and software; respond to and resolve any broadcasting emergencies/equipment malfunctions.
7. Monitor playlist for compliance with format; develop rotation schedule for music; review and select music.
8. Develop, organize and direct on-air promotions, direct and produce off-air fundraising concerts, events and other activities.
9. Conduct audience and retail research.
10. Respond to inquiries and requests for information concerning the station.
11. Review publications and literature to keep current on changing communication technologies, regulations, etc.

Education Bachelor’s degree Broadcasting, communication or a related field

Knowledge of:
• Communications and media technologies, including systems and procedures related to radio broadcasting
• Applicable Federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations
• Principles and practices of designing and producing radio broadcasts
• Principles and practices of production journalism
• Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training
• Budget maintenance
• Methods of non-profit radio fundraising
• Specialized radio broadcast-related hardware and software
Ability to:
• Organize, direct and implement a comprehensive radio broadcast operation
• Operate a variety of equipment involved in radio productions
• Assign and review work assigned to student assistants
• Produce and direct a variety of programming
• Interpret and apply Federal, state and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
• Administer a budget
• Supervise and train student assistants
• Communicate clearly and effectively
• Maintain cooperative working relationship with others
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
