Job Description:

The University of Central Florida Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) department is hiring an Assistant Director, Student Counseling focused on Care Management Services and Clinical Services. This position reports to the Director of CAPS, or appropriate administrator and may assume the Director or Associate Director duties/functions in absentia as required or needed. The Assistant Director, Student Counseling is responsible for the overall direction and management of a specific functional domain area.

The duties and responsibilities include:

• Development and implementation of the Care Management Services domain of this Center, which manages the elevated risk and chronic students who engage in CAPS services, as well as supporting the clinical, outreach, and training domains.
  
  
• Liaison to SHS/psychiatry and UCF Cares Office, participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, etc.
  
  
• Works closely with the Associate Director of Clinical Services to support the overall service delivery system of the Center (record requests, telemental health services, ethical/legal consultations, etc).
  
  
• Develops and implements policies and procedures of Care Management Services as well as of CAPS.
  
  
• Creates coverage plan for the center including disposition teams, manages assignment of clients, oversees after-hours crisis call follow-ups, develops Center groups schedule, and leads Care Management Team and other Teams or committees.
  
  
• Oversees non-clinical case manager who helps students connect with community services.
  
  
• Supervises and evaluates professional staff portfolio and oversees clinician(s) and the staff who oversee a campus satellite office.
  
  
• Supervises therapist-in-training in Psychology, Social work, and/or Mental Health Counseling.
  
  
• Participates in data analysis for monthly/annual reports, and program evaluation and research projects for institutional effectiveness plan supporting clinical services.
  
  
• Serving as a consultant to university faculty and staff, particularly at the Student of Concern Committee.
  
  
• Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to accomplish the responsibilities and functions of the counseling center.

Minimum Qualifications:

A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA (American Psychological Association) accredited college or university, completion of an APA-accredited internship or closely related field and have equivalent internship, and have a minimum of 2 years of counseling center or related experience; or a master’s degree in clinical psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy at an accredited college or university with a supervised internship experience; and have a minimum of 4 years of counseling center or related experience. Must possess a current clinical license in their current state jurisdiction of practice. Must be license eligible in Florida at time of hire, licensed by the State of Florida within 6 months of hire date, and must maintain license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experienced professional in the mental health field.
  
  
• 8 years of experience working as a licensed clinician in the mental health field.
  
  
• Experience in the leadership and/or coordination of counseling center administrative functions.
  
  
• Experience with visionary systemic thinking in Counseling Center clinical, training, or prevention and outreach and campus crisis emergency response systems delivery, and developing Center policies and procedures.
  
  
• Experience in clinical and administrative supervision of staff.
  
  
• Proficiency with program evaluation, analysis of data trends and outcomes, and ability to transfer into report and graphs.
  
  
• Team oriented with an ability to work within a large center system and administrative structure.
  
  
• Professional demeanor, comfortable presenting programs to large audiences, and comfortable with speaking to the media.
  
  
• Experience in managing, organizing, and marketing events and budget.
  
  
• Excellent report writing skills and proficiency in using Excel, and Power Point, Titanium, and social and multi-media platforms.
