Job Description:

TVI and Tinker Program Management – 40%

For the Title VI NRC and FLAS grants, and other grants as necessary:

  • Plans and Coordinates program activities and competitions, such as Tinker Summer Research competitions
  • Coordinates the AY and Summer FLAS fellowship competitions, including advising the selection committees, leading info sessions, and organizing language proficiency tests
  • Provides budget oversight during award activities and regularly monitors spending to ensure all grant activity expenditures are captured timely
  • Ensures all paperwork associated with TVI/Tinker activities is complete and submitted
  • Provides guidance on grant guidelines and regulations
  • Collects data and prepare reports
  • Assists with proposal writing and budget preparation

Grant Management – 20%

  • Assists faculty with grant submission process
  • Manages grants and contracts budget for the Center based awards with the assistance of the Associate Director for Administrative Services.
  • Assists in cost sharing monitoring and manual expenditure submission with the assistance of the Associate Director for Administrative Services
  • Prepares and writes reports that are not handled by another Core office on grant activities and goals and for future proposals, such as annual summaries of new funding applied for and/or received
  • Assists with documentation for reports on grant guidelines for award or proposal requirements.
  • Develops grant opportunities
  • Reviews UF grant sources to connect faculty to grant opportunities
  • Reviews outside sources to connect faculty to grant opportunities

Outreach Support and Event Logistics – 25%

  • Facilitates coordination of K-12 and state college outreach programming and events as well as other Title VI outreach events as needed.
  • Coordinates logistics of events, including planning speakers or communicating with constituents for outreach events.
  • Ensures all paperwork associated with outreach events and projects is complete
  • Maintains records of event aspects including number of attendees and any Title VI data for events
  • Assists in managing special projects, such as:
    • Title VI suitcase program
    • Virtual Connection Network/Virtual Exchange Projects
    • Database for Career Connection events such as availability of internships, classroom speakers, etc.
    • Data Collection – 10%
  • Compiles data for grant reporting and proposal development regarding active awards and other information for grant reports and proposal development.
  • Disseminates information as needed for other grant or Center programs.
  • Coordinates data collection on LAS alumni.

Other duties as assigned – 5%

Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree and three years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree; Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese; Excellent written and oral communication; Strong interpersonal skills; Knowledge of Latin American Studies (social sciences, history, humanities); A background in education and/or curriculum development; A background in handling federal grant programs, particularly the US DOE Title VI program; The ability to self-start, work independently as well as work well in team environment, and multi-task.
